About Us
The view above is taken directly in front of the cottage and leads down to the amazing red cliffs that have made this part of PEI so famous. Awaiting at the end of this path are breathtaking views, an extremely private sandy beach covered in sea glass and views of the grey seals that will entertain you for hours.
Your hosts, Leslie and Brian Jackson, welcome you to their tranquil getaway in West Cape, PEI.
As Leslie and Brian inched closer to retirement, a cottage getaway became more and more appealing. Although neither of them is an 'Islander', they became enchanted with PEI over many vacations and decided that this part of Canada would make a perfect spot for relaxation and retirement.
Leslie and Brian spent a few years hunting for the perfect property to build their personal retreat and in early 2022, they finally found it. Because they don't retire for a few more years, the cottage will often be sitting majestically on the cliffs with no one there to enjoy her. They have spent the past several months making minor renovations and cosmetic changes to the cottage and are now ready to share their cottage with you. Beginning in the spring of 2023, lugn retreat will become available to guests.
The Jackson's are beginning to accept reservations for next year. Referrals from friends and family will be accepted, via email, starting in the fall of 2022. Email referrals and inquiries can be sent to lugnretreat@outlook.com .
ABOUT THE AREA
Our lugn retreat is located in West Cape, PEI. Just a few short kilometres to the south of us, sits the famous West Point Lighthouse, which has been photographed and painted by folks all over the world. West Cape sits at the furthest western point of the island and looks directly across the Northumberland Strait towards the small town of Cap Lumiere, New Brunswick.
During the month of August, lobster fishermen patrol our coastline in the early morning. A short drive to the north or to the south and you will be able to meet their boats and pick up some of their fresh catches.
We are sure that you will enjoy patrolling the red sand beach that is located directly in front of our cottage. You will feel like you have the entire beach to yourself, as there are only a couple of cottages nearby that have access to the same beach. Patrolling the beach for sea glass and shells will become a daily habit, we are sure! We also predict that you will become mesmerized by the grey seals as they sunbathe and feed on striped bass just off the shoreline.
O'Leary is a friendly small town that is about 10 minutes away. O'Leary has a couple of small restaurants, a grocery store, a hardware store and even a Potato Museum. For those folks who might need to keep up on their other habits, a Tim Horton's is also located just outside of O'Leary.
The small city of Summerside is located to the south east and is less than an hour away. It contains everything that you might need for your holiday.
